Gijs ten Cate, DROPSTUFF.nl
Gijs ten Cate operates on the border of technology and art. He works on diverse projects since studying both Media Technology and New Media at the University of Utrecht. Here he developed a fascination for the role technology fulfills in everyday live. In 2004 he designed an innovative program for the UMC Hospital in Utrecht that allowed glioma patients to train their cognitive attention levels in an interactive application. An application simple to use for it users, but capable of providing researchers results they can use. Besides making programs for al kinds of clients, he works for Pleinmuseum Foundation developing the mediaplatform DROPSTUFF.nl since the beginning of 2008. At this project he displays his ability to convert creative concepts into technological solutions. At DROPSTUFF.nl he made the numerous Dropstuff Hotspots possible, visible all over cultural centres in The Netherlands, among other projects. He joins DROPSTUFF.nl at all kinds of prominent locations, for instance at the Venice Bienale in June 2009.
