Yves Bernard, iMal, Brussels

After an education in architecture and computer science, after working as a scientific researcher and in art&culture electronic publishing, Yves Bernard founded in 1999 iMAL (interactive Media Art Laboratory) which became “Center for Digital Cultures and Technology” in 2007 when opening its new venue in the center of Brussels. He produced many Belgian media artworks, he was the (co-)curator of exhibitions in Brussels, Helsinki and The Netherlands (e.g. Holy Fire, art of the digital age – 2008, Kiosk, artifacts of a post-digital age – 2009). He is the (co-)author of works exploring the merge of Internet with the physical world (e.g. OFFFCAM, The Gate). Yves Bernard teaches digital media arts in art schools in Brussels.
